Grand Chancellor Hotel
The venue for the CAUTHE 2010 Conference is the Grand Chancellor Hotel, situated within the historic waterfront precinct of Sullivans Cove, where mellow sandstone wharf buildings are reminiscent of the hustle and bustle of life in Georgian Van Diemen's Land.
The conference venue is just a short stroll from Salamanca Place where heritage warehouses, built by convicts, today house stylish boutiques, cafés, restaurants and wine bars, artists’ studios and art galleries.
Within the Grand Chancellor, the Hobart Concert Hall is home to the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, one of the world’s finest small orchestras. Across the road, the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery houses a magnificent collection of colonial and contemporary art; Tasmanian history; the new Tasmanian Aboriginal Gallery ningenneh tunapry; and the Islands to Ice exhibition on Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. Around the corner is the Theatre Royal, the oldest theatre in Australia.
