The Council for Australasian University Tourism and Hospitality Education (CAUTHE) began in the late 1980's and was formally established in Sydney on 19 June 1992. CAUTHE represents the universities in Australia and New Zealand that teach and research hospitality and tourism.

Membership
CAUTHE membership provides a number of benefits for those involved in tourism and hospitality education or research.

PhD and ECR bursaries
CAUTHE invites PhD students and Early Career Researchers to submit bursary applications for the 2013 CAUTHE conference in Christchurch, New Zealand.

ALTC project
The question of what constitutes a tourism and hospitality degree has received considerable attention in a number of countries with significant debate over issues such as core knowledge requirements and accreditation. This project aims to clarify what constitutes a tourism or hospitality degree in Australia and exactly what such degrees should deliver.
